How Old Was I When Someone Else Was Born?

To find how old you were when another person was born, compare your date of birth with that person’s date of birth.

This is the same as finding the age gap between both people.

Easy method

1. Enter your date of birth in the first field.
2. Enter the other person’s date of birth in the second field.
3. Select Calculate age difference.

If your date is earlier, the result shows your exact age when the other person was born.

Example

You were born on 10 April 1990. Your younger brother was born on 25 September 1996.

The gap is 6 years, 5 months and 15 days. That was your age when your brother was born.

Your current age does not matter

You do not need today’s date or your current age. The answer depends only on the two birth dates.

The gap stays the same throughout life.

What if you were born later?

If your date of birth is later, you were not yet born when the other person was born. The calculator will show that the other person is older.

If you know only the birth year

A birth year gives only a rough answer. Without the day and month, the exact age could be almost one year different from the rough estimate.

Use full dates whenever possible.
