A small date-entry mistake can give a very different age result. Check both dates before using the answer.
DD/MM/YYYY and MM/DD/YYYY
In India, dates are commonly written as DD/MM/YYYY.
For example, 04/06/1990 usually means 4 June 1990 in India. In some other countries, it may mean 6 April 1990.
To avoid confusion, write the month in words when possible: 4 June 1990.
Use a four-digit year
Write 1995 instead of 95. A two-digit year can be read as the wrong century by a person or computer.
Check that the date is real
Some dates do not exist.
- 31 April is not valid.
- 30 February is not valid.
- 29 February is valid only in a leap year.
A good date field should stop impossible dates.
Check spreadsheet cells
Excel or Google Sheets may store a date as plain text. It may look correct but fail in a formula.
Make sure the cell contains a real date value, not only typed text.
Do not swap the two people by mistake
The Age Difference Calculator accepts the dates in any order. Still, check the result line to see which person is older.
Final check
Before sharing the result, read both dates in words. Then check the year, month and day one more time. This simple step prevents most date-format errors.
